  • LEONARD NAKAMURA

    he/him

    An economist who works on issues of economic measurement & housing relevant to environmental justice & sustainable growth. He does presentations & tabling on climate change, environmental justice & green economics.

    He’s retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia but retains status as an emeritus economist. He has a BA from Swarthmore College & MA & Ph.D. from Princeton University.

  • KEN BEISER

    he/him

    A consultant to the commercial solar sector. Since 2014, he has been advising businesses & developers firms on the deployment of photovoltaic systems in the US, optimizing tax & incentive structures. He ran solar development companies for 12 years, based in Philadelphia, & has completed over 80 major installations in the US.

    Prior to doing solar finance work, Beiser was an investment banker. He was with Salomon Brothers in Frankfurt & London from 1990-1998 & the German bank WestLB from 1999-2002, in London & New York. From 2002-2006 he did turnaround & recovery work in New York.

    He has an M.B.A. from the London Business School - University of London, & a B.Sc. from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

  • JULIA NAKHLEH

    she/her

    Julia Nakhleh worked as a software engineer before leaving the field to raise her two children. She is a Girl Scout Leader & coached a robotics team for many years. She took the Climate Reality Leadership training in July of 2020 & is a member of the Leadership Committee for the Philadelphia & Southeastern PA chapter of the Climate Reality Project. She has focused on Pennsylvania's effort to become a member state of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) and has given many webinars on RGGI to help educate the public about its benefits.

  • LAUREN FEHR

    she/her

    A driven marketer with a passion for sustainability & technology from a young age. As she grew up, Lauren became increasingly aware of the urgent need for action to combat climate change. In pursuit of her passion, she is dedicated to helping businesses & organizations promote their brand & adopt more sustainable practices.

    Lauren joined CNEP to bring the group’s efforts online, creating & establishing the group’s branding, web design & development, & content marketing. In addition to her work with CNEP, Lauren owns & operates a small sustainable candle business, 2AM Creators, with her sister.

  • TIM BECKHAM

    he/him

    A retired, self-employed, manufacturers' representative. He was self-employed for 30 years & offered fabricated metal products to contractors & subcontractors in the construction industry. He & his wife, Polly, raised two children & now have 4 grandchildren.

    Tim received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from San Diego State University & an MS degree from the University of California in La Jolla.

    Tim's concerns about climate change & its potential long-term effects on his family & others has motivated him to devote the rest of his life to working on halting & reversing the global impacts of climate change.

  • MERLE SAVEDOW

    she/her

    Merle Savedow is a retired reading specialist. She worked for the School District of Philadelphia for 23 years & is currently teaching Literacy part-time at a local elementary school. She recently co-created a green team at Germantown Jewish Centre & is the co-founder of CNEP.

  • PAUL SAVEDOW

    he/him

    Paul Savedow is a retired librarian from the Free Library of Philadelphia. He worked & managed several departments including Music; Business/Science/ & Industry; Education/Philosophy & Religion. He also started WORKPLACE, a job & career information center.

    His interest in climate change & sustainability led to his joining CNEP.

  • JUDY MORGAN

    she/her

    Judy spent most of her career in environmental education & public participation, within the NJ Dept. of Environmental Protection. She developed outreach programs relating to the protection of NJ waterways & radon testing, & coordinated public participation events for the NJ Clean Water Council. She developed a newsletter & educational materials for the NJ Division of Water Resources, including “The Clean Water Book: A Guide to Reducing Water Pollution in Your Home & Neighborhood” (1987).

    In retirement, she got involved in climate education, co-founding the NW Philly Climate Action Network in 2018, & co-founding the Community Net-Zero Education Project within Philadelphia Neighborhood Networks in 2021.

    She has a BA in Psychology from Rice University & an MA in Sociology from Johns Hopkins University.
